Born in 1989, and raised in a quaint village nestled amid the picturesque mountain ranges of Western Ghats in India, Maitreyee has forged her artistic journey through self-discovery. Since 2015, her artistic evolution has transitioned from realism to a harmonious blend of realism and abstraction, capturing the essence of her dreams, thoughts, and life experiences.
Currently based in Pune, India, Maitreyee has devoted herself to her passion for painting since 2015. Despite her academic prowess in achieving All India Rank 1 in the Chartered Accountancy final examination along with many other academic accolades, her true calling emerged in 2015 when she found solace in the world of art. Leaving behind her corporate career, she underwent fine arts training under the guidance of the late Sachin Naik, a distinguished watercolorist in Pune, and continued her education through books, workshops, and interactions with fellow artists.
In 2019, Maitreyee embarked on a transformative nine-month journey across Europe, immersing herself in backpacking life, visiting art galleries, forming connections with fellow artists, and drawing inspiration from her travels across more than ten European countries.
Operating from her studio in Pune, Maitreyee works with diverse mediums such as oils, acrylics, watercolor, gouache, and collage. Her compositions draw inspiration from her childhood in nature, backpacking adventures, love for literature, and her minimalist and eco-friendly lifestyle.
In the realm of her canvas, Maitreyee is a storyteller weaving tales of dreams, thoughts, and life experiences. Her work is an exploration of her chosen way of life. In the chaos of today's frenetic world, painting becomes more than a mere artistic endeavor for her; it is a lifestyle choice that provides a sense of purpose and identity, a deliberate departure from the relentless pace of the rat race.
Her landscapes are not just compositions on canvas; they are windows into her experiences, intricately linked to the lasting impressions and metaphorical echoes of those moments. Through her art, she aims to transport the viewer into the same experiential realm that she felt, capturing and translating memories into tangible expressions.
Her artworks, with their rich hues and serene compositions, invite contemplation. They carry a sustainable meditative quality, urging the viewer to reflect on their own journey of self-exploration. Each painting becomes a harmonious blend of deep reflections and tranquil representations, resonating with a profound and sustainable essence.
